Did you know that 40% of elderly people are feeling lonely and 16% of young people feeling depressed? And what’s more, that less than 40% of these groups are reaching the WHO’s recommended amount of physical activity daily?*

These are some of the worrying findings from the research phase of the Generations Uniting through Movement (GUM) project, which aims to bring young people and seniors together through games and sports. In order to facilitate intergenerational relationships and increase physical activity among both groups, ISCA created the GUM programme to allow these generations to co-create activities under the guidance of experienced sport for all organisations.

Are you curious about working in this area and are looking for resources?

Have a look at our infographic above to discover five keys to success when it comes to organising intergenerational activities with a focus on MOVEment.

The Generations Uniting through Movement (GUM) project is supported by the EU Erasmus+ programme and the partners are ISCA (lead coordinator), Youth Sport Trust (UK), Sports Union of Slovenia, BG Be Active (Bulgaria), Deporte Para La Educacion Y La Salud (DES) (Spain), Stichting Hanzehogeschool Groningen (Hanze) (the Netherlands) and Azur Sport Sante (France).
